Merry Christmas to fans of Battle Stations. It has been a while since I last posted. Been tied down with a new baby girl after recovering from my knee operation.

This Christmas season, aligned yourself with Steampowered Santa or Mechakaiju. Captains from the winning side would received 200AP, 1000 gold x level of captain and a special monster item.

TYLER will be making some changes to clan wars to encourage participation.

First, there will be a warrior achievement which tracks the number of times a captain has participated in clan wars which would unlock exclusive weapons and items as the participation rate increases.

Next, every clan would have a timezone and description field to enable captains to choose a suitable clan in their timezone. Others updates include the introduction of clan pacification and the nerfing of XP and gold mutilier for clans below tier A.

I wonder if anyone noticed the Demon Sail is 'limited to 2 per player' in the Ocho Shop. Now ask yourself why on Sios would any captain want 2 Demon Sails?

The answer may lies in 'Crafting', that is the combination of two items to get a better 'crafted item'; sort of like 1+1 = 3. I believe the release of 'limited to 2 per player' Demon Sail is a precursor of things to come in Battle Stations.

My advice is for captains to hold on to multiple parts and maybe even weapons instead of auctioning them off. You may need it later for experimenting if not for a better crafted item ;)

This weekend, Sios captains will get a mysterious Halloween gift, to be open during the event. As part of the Halloween weekend, there would also be a 4-tier horror monster event. Health of these Halloween Horrors will be shrouded. Rewards for captains who manage to defeat the Halloween Horrors are as follows:

- Level 30 and below (Flying Pumpkin): Giga Drill Breaker
- Level 31-60 (Phantom Pumpkin): El Toro Crest
- Level 61-90 (Pumpkin Horror): Chainsaw Blade/Hammer of War
- Level 91 and above (Pumpkin Terror): Dark Blade

There will also be a reward for last hit and lucky draw based on the number of attempts on the Halloween Horrors.

This weekend sees the start of the annual lunar invasion. The health of the 3-tier lunar behemoths are shrouded and is as follows:
- Full Moon (BOSS) for captains above level 60
- Quarter Moon for captains level 31 to 60
- Crescent Moon for captains level 30 and below

Members from different clans gathered to give 'Lunik' aka Jeremy Hing a warm welcome home. We went to Eng Seng Restaurant at the junction of Still Road and Joo Chiat Place for crabs followed by durians at Four Seasons Durian Cafe just across the restaurant.

As with the other gatherings, though most of us have only met each other for the first time, all civic-ness melted away at the arrival of the steaming fragrant crabs. Everyone dug into the crabs merrily with theirs fingers admist jokes, laughter and of course chatter about Battle Stations!

Alas all good things must come to an end but these photos will remind us of the camaraderie among the BS community in Singapore. Hope to see more people from the community in the next gathering.

This weekend 28 June UTC 0600h to 30 June UTC 0600h, the migration season of the fearsome giant avians of Sios have arrived. These feared avians come together to form a 3-tier event for Sios captains as follows:
- Phoenix for captains above level 60
- Thunder Flappy for captains level 31 to 60
- Roc Flappy for captains level 30 and below

Rewards for captains who manage to take the avians down are as follows:
- Phoenix: Aqueous Cannon and level x 5,000 gold

I have not been updating this blog for a while because I was away on holiday in Japan. Although I had planned to meet up with Romano who is living in Osaka, my schedule just did not allow me to do so.

The first mobile message when I got back was from Adrian, the clan master of Ping informing me of a BS gathering for dinner at Hanabi, a Japanese buffet diner. Gasp! I just came back from having an over-dose of Japanese food and I am going for a buffet!!!

Though the number of people totaled 10, there was a good representation from at least 3 different clans. While I have only met some for the first time, the banter was lively and photos was taken to document the event as a good Ping member always do.

This weekend 24 May UTC 0600h to 26 May UTC 0600h, several reconstructed siege Mobile Adaptive Weapons (MAWs) have been stolen. Turning rogue, the Valkyrie MAW is linked together with other MAWs for a 3-tier weekend event. They are:
- Valkrie for captains above level 50
- Devastor for captains level 31 to 50
- Exion for captains level 30 and below

Rewards for captains who manage to take the MAWs down are as follows:
- Valkrie: Valkrie Lance (level 75 missile) and 2 plasma rocks

This weekend 10 May UTC 0600h to 12 May UTC 0600h, Captain Anne with her airship Scarlet Orca would be roaming Sios to hunt down ships. A word of warning though, she has a taste for 'fishes'.

Captains who manage to take her down can private message the developers for any item up to +5 level of the captain. Chainsaw Blade and Fong Chadun not incuded.

As usual I will try to get a combat replay once I have a chance to meet Captain Anne.

This weekend event is increase in drop rate at Jade Archipelago. With full crew (+2AP/hour) and the usual +3AP/hour during weekends, one almost has up to 1000 AP this weekend to explore and hopefully get enough resources to suppress the resources market. Looks like a good time to bid for resources this week.

This weekend, abyssal creatures from the deep were uncovered by explorers and captains from Sios begin attacking them for pride and prize. As with boss events nowadays, there is a Abyssal Manta for captains level 30 and below; a Abyssal Coelacanth for captains between level 31 and 50 and a ridiculously high armor and high attack Abyssal Kraken for captains above level 50.

Taking out the Abyssal Manta would diminish the Kraken armor while killing the Coelacanth would lower the attack damage from the Kraken.

This weekend also brought a new way of rewarding captains for attacking the abyssal creatures where a prize would go to the captain striking the last blow on the respective creatures and another prize from a random draw with captains dealing the most damage getting a higher chance.

The weekend event was the long-awaited travel fair where the travelling cost was reduced. Though boring, it was a welcome relief for captains whom wanted to travel to Aeros and beyond for the purchases. I myself travelled to Aeros for a brand new shiny prototype cannon. What did you get?

The weekend big bad boss event follows the concept of the nemesis raiders having a boss for captains level 30 and below, level 31-50 and level 51 and above. Captains who defeated the dragons will also get an unknown rare weapon.

As usual I am bringing everyone a glimpse of the doom dragon (level 51 and above). Happy to say I am finally able to withstand the first salvo.

This weekend event comes courtesy of Fong Pei, Battle Stations! resident super sleuth who would be patroling the world of Sios and blasting cheaters and multis out of the sky. He would also be 'dissolving' flamers and players who post offensive attack/defence messages.

As a weekend boss, Fong Pei can attack players regardless of level. Players too can attack him with no level restrictions. To attack him, search for his ship 'Prophet Fong', and captain's name 'Fong Pei' in the 'Attack' screen. However if you get attacked 'unfairly', it is just part of the game!

The biggest news on Battle Stations! today was the addition of new weapons which got everyone excited especially at the higher levels. The new weapons are:
- Shredder Gun (sub-cannon) at Jade Archipelago
- Flame Chaser (missile) at Corxas Jungle
- Pile Driver (melee) at Al Amraan

Some speed parts were also deleveled for better distribution which includes lowering of resources needed. The changes are:
- Standard Sail from level 10 to level 5
- Great Sail from level 20 to level 15
- Twin Sail from level 30 to level 25
- Triple Sail from level 40 to level 35
- Solar Sail from level 50 to level 45
- Advanced Sail from level 60 to level 55

- the full version
- fixed the clan wars
- put up the cash shop
- fixed multiple servers
- launched the MW version

Battle Stations! would be switching over to a new system for calculating gold and XP bonus on Saturday, 22 March '08. Under the new system, the gold and XP bonus from combat/sinking will be based on the opponent's level and other hidden variable/s instead of from your damage and the value of the opponent's ship.

For most players, this should means more gold and XP especially from NPCs.

You can give test the new system at the testing server before the implementation here.

As usual I will be bringing you a replay of the weekend mobile fortress event. It never is good to attack a fortress when like me, you are at the lower end of the level range.

Even though the weekend mobile fortress was for 3 different level range of airships captains, everyone still has to work together to take down the Nemesis Raiders.

Without the shield generator and weapon system down, the Nemesis War Fortress is too powerful with a damage range of 14575-26011.

Airships captains who defeated the raiders will receive the El Toro Crest.

As with last weekend event, this weekend event is a 3-tier mobile fortress warfare for level 5-30, level 31-50 and level 51+.

TYLER Projects has released a demo of the new battle sequence for the full version of Battle Stations!. Bouquets of praises have been pouring on the discussion board.

The biggest news today was the unannounced nerfing of missiles damage for Dark Reaper and Whirlwind Missile that causes a furore among some of the players.

Here are changes that was passed on to me through by the community:
Avenger Autocannon:
Range increased from 425 to 450, dmg increased from 900-1400 to 1000-1500

Dark Reaper:
Range reduced from 4000 to 3500, damage reduced from 750-900 to 650-800

Whirlwind Missile:
Damage reduced from 600-800 to 550-750

Dragon Chaser:
Range reduced from 4000 to 3500

A FAQ section is finally added with class, stats and XP requirements. More FAQs will be added in due course. If you cannot see the FAQ, just right-click on the page and 'refresh'.

Forgot to announce here that I have added the Battle Stations! Tavern chat on the main page. I wonder if the whole Tavern Chat is good for a page by itself. What do you think?

Met up with Conder for lunch today. Who is Conder you may ask? Well Conder is Battle Stations! resident Tavern chat buddy. He profess to be on the tavern chat for 20 hours a day. Don't believe me? Just take a look at the Tavern Chat here and you will see Conder.

I am also seeking for a Battle Stations! FAQ section writer. If you have one, do sent it to me and I will add it as a link. Do let me know what new pages you would like to see here too. Don't ask for a FAQ section though because that will definitely be coming. Some have asked me to put up a page for the old ships. As I would like to keep the link short, what do you think is a good name for the link?

The level 51+ Weekend Event monster was too strong for me. Dealing 6572-10231 damage per phase, I could not even survive 1 phase of fire. However, one must sacrifice to put up a replay.

Both the 'ships' and 'NPCs' page are completed. 'Skills' page would be coming soon.

On a personal note, I just hit level 52 and is short of 7 plasma rocks for my next level upgrades. How I intend to get those plasma rocks I have no idea because I had just made another contribution to the clan fort and is at a lack of gold too.

Did not attend yesterday Battle Stations! SG Party as I had a dinner till 10pm. Although I had wanted to pop by for a while but decided against it as no one I know seems to be going. Also I had a prior appointment to play my usual Friday night dose of Warcraft Frozen Throne.

A new Weekend Event was planned from the many suggestions received for a weekend boss for lower level players. This weekend in addition to 8AP/hour (8am UTC), 3 different level of bosses will appear at about 2pm UTC for level 5-30, 31-50 and 51+ respectively. Clans' forts would also be raised at 4-5pm UTC.
